Adjustable Timing Belt Tensioner Installation
This guide assumes you have already gone through the process of removing your OEM Timing belt tensioner. Start by fully compressing the King6fab adjustable timing belt tensioner to its lowest level, this is done by loosening the jam nut and turning the bolt to its lowest point. From here you can mount the tensioner on the engine.
Once the tensioner is mounted to the engine, proceed to adjust the tension on the belt by tightening the bolt. Its best to tighten the belt to a point that the crank shaft can be rotated without the belt slipping on the cams. Rotate the engine a few times, now check the deflection on the belt, on average, 3/8″ of the piston of the adjustable timing belt tensioner will be visible.
If you choose to put the timing belt covers back on your engine, its recommended to make cut aways so that the timing belt tensioner can be adjusted and inspected at regular service intervals. Making cut aways in the cover can be done easily with a dremel, a mini reciprocating saw or a exacto knife.
