93-94 to 95+ Distributor Conversion
Convert your 1995-1997 KL V6 Engine to use a 1993-1994 Distributor
Information:
Fact: The 1993-1994 (KL) V6 Engine ECU use 2 crank sensors, one crank sensor at the crank pulley, and the second is crank sensor is in the distributor.
In 1995, the Distributor & ECU design changed to only use one crank sensor. Due to this, Distributors from 1995-1997 (KL) V6 Engines CANNOT be used on 1993-1994 Engines & ECU’s because they don’t have crank sensors in them. The wiring pigtails are the same, but the wiring orientation and plug placement has changed for the purpose being identifiable and not interchangeable if you were to buy the wrong year by mistake.
However, the older model distributors from 1993-1994 can be used on 1995-1997 Engines because the wiring for the internal crank sensor from the 1993-1994 distributor is not used.
All that is required to use these distributors is rewire the smaller 3 pin plug, using the below diagram.
