New Challenges
As I prepare tax’s for the previous year I am gaining perspective of how profitable offering my services will be into the year 2025. To be transparent, its just not worth it. 2021-2023 have been the least amount of orders received since I began offering service. Now with new tax laws the cost to benefit & projected future orders does not justify the added complexity of tax.
I operate King6fab as side gig afterhours of full time employment. This means long strenuous 12-16hr days and many of my weekends are taken up by trying to provide a service of making parts. Ive never have had overhead shop cost, large markups or a shop labor rate. This allowed me to offer very low prices and a variety of customizations. The Shop I work for full time graciously allows me to use the shop as I need with some requirements.
Revenue from King6fab has allowed me to purchase and build machines to make more parts, better parts and explore new modifications that I pioneered for the platform. Every order has contributed to the growth of this website and continuation of my support for the platform.
Where King6fab goes from here
I plan to partner with the Local Fabrication business I work for and transfer the “fabricated parts” that King6fab offers to it. The business has been established since 2021 and is just starting to implement a E-Commerce shopping page.
see it at www.DakFab.com
Soon many of the products on King6fab.com will be labeled as affiliate products and redirected to the D&K Fabrication website for ordering.
What does this mean exactly? I will still be making the parts but under a registered business that’s subject to the labor rate of the shop, shop expenses, markups and taxes.Â
The parts will cost significantly more then I was able offer for previous years. However many parts that were discontinued will now be available to buy and turnaround times will be much quicker.
This is the nature of this platform, there simply is not a large enough demand to mass produce a stock of parts that can be sold at very appealing pricing.
King6fab.com will remain an E-Commerce website but only for products I offer that don’t require manual in shop labor.
